Frank John Descoteaux

CUMBERLAND Frank John Descoteaux, 79, passed on Saturday December 24, 2011 at the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Martha (Brady) Descoteaux, and they had been married for 46 years. Born in Fort Devens, MA, he was the son of the late Frank and Alberta (Bailey) Descoteaux. He resided in Cumberland for many years. He was a United States Army and Airforce Veteran and retiree of 22 years, serving in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Frank was a member of the American Legion Post 132 and 14; VFW Post 1271, and the 40 and 8 Voiture 1166. He served as Post Commander of Post 132 and also District 29 Commander. He was employed as security for Disneyland in Anaheim, CA for 16 years, and later was employed by Wackenhaut Security. Besides his wife he leaves his daughter, Lynn Fitzgerald and her husband Ray of Cumberland; one son John Descoteaux of Huntington Beach, CA; three grandchildren, Danielle, Jake and Hope, all of Cumberland. He was the brother of the late Jane Warren Lawrence. A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Tuesday, 4-7 PM. Godspeed Uncle John 12/24/11

John Descoteaux,one of my last uncles on my father's side, went home to God today. There are no words to express my feelings. I remember Uncle John, in the hallway of my mom and dad's house in Brooklyn, showing us how to bowl. He had us tuck a folded bath towel under our arm so that our elbow would stay close to our bodies. I remember him at our house here in Sterling, at our family reunion, cooking on the grill. Funny what you remember. The entire family's thoughts and prayers are with Aunt Martha, Johnny, Lynn, Ray, Danielle, Jake and Hope. May God bless us all in this time of sadness. May Uncle John enjoy Heaven and seeing all those who have been waiting his arrival.

Evelyn Cotjanle
COTJANLE, Evelyn Ward, 82, died at her home in Orange on September 12, 2011 after a long illness. She was the widow of Theodore E. Cotjanle to whom she was married for 41 years. Born in New Haven on April 2, 1929, she was the daughter of Ruth E. Nanfeldt and Leon K. Ward who resided in Fair Haven. Having attended Commercial High in New Haven, Mrs. Cotjanle was a proud graduate of the University of Connecticut and a loyal member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Soon after marrying in 1954, Evelyn and her husband moved to Orange and began to become deeply involved in the community. Among her many activities, she taught in the Orange elementary schools for 15 years during which time she earned a teaching certificate and Masters degree in Education from Southern Connecticut State College. She also joined the Orange Garden Club and became very active in the Church of the Good Shepherd. At church, she was, at different times, a Sunday School Teacher, the Sunday School Superintendent, President of the Episcopal Church Women and Circle Chairman, and a member of the Prayer Group and Rector Search Committee. Later, she led outreach efforts for the church with the House of Jacob and was one of the founders of Summer Encounter children's program sponsored by area churches and synagogues. In 1980, she started her career as a real estate agent at the Beazley Company. She went on to have a successful career of approximately 22 years until she retired in 2002. During these years, Evelyn was frequently among the company's top producing agents statewide and, in 1987, was named Residential Salesperson of the Year. Known warmly to her many friends and colleagues as "Evie", she leaves, with her love and affection, her son, Theodore Cotjanle and his wife Elizabeth and two grandchildren, her son, Ross L. Cotjanle, and a sister-in-law Anne Foglia. Evelyn was a very charismatic woman with tremendous energy and great personality. Her generous heart and kind soul will be missed by those whose lives she touched. Evelyn loved her work in real estate, was an avid tennis fan, enjoyed bridge, gardening, and being with her friends. Memorial contributions may be to one of the following: the Memorial Fund of the Church of the Good Shepherd, 680 Racebrook Rd, Orange CT 06477; The Case Memorial Library Gift Fund, 176 Tyler City Road, Orange, CT 06477: or The University of Connecticut Foundation, 2390 Alumni Drive, Storrs, CT 06269. The service will be held at 11 am on Thursday September 15, 2011 in the Church of the Good Shepherd. Burial will follow at the Orange Center Cemetery. The Hawley Lincoln Funeral Home, at 493 Whitney Avenue, is in charge of arrangements.

Spent the afternoon with cousins at the west coast Brady family reunion. Very glad we made the trip. All who would have liked to be here but for various reasons couldn't -you were here in spirit, we could all feel you.
We are blessed.
Not just because we belong to a large family, but because our parents instilled in us a love of family.
In conversations today a theme became clear. Belonging to a family as large as ours, who care for each other as much as we do, means we share both days of happiness and days of sadness, but most importantly, we share them with each other.

Gloria L. Bessenaire

September 16, 1936 – August 8, 2011

DAYVILLE – Gloria L. Bessenaire, 74, of Putnam Road, died Monday at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam with her family by her side. She was the wife of Paul J. Bessenaire; they were married at Our Lady of LaSalette Church in Brooklyn on August 13, 1955. Mrs. Bessenaire was born in Danielson on September 16, 1936, daughter of the late Medeas and Adrienne (Gendron) Perreault. She graduated from St. James School and later from the Putnam Catholic Academy in 1954. She worked for over twenty years for First National Stores. She was a deli manager at Michael’s Market in Danielson when they reopened. She also had been employed at Danco and Allied Control. Her greatest devotion was to her family and her faith. Mrs. Bessenaire was a communicant of St. James Church in Danielson where she was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Society of Mary, Daughters of Isabella, and along with her husband, very active volunteers at the St. James Bazaar. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #2650 and the Fraternal Order of Police Ladies Auxiliary Lodge #3. Besides her husband she is survived by her children, Deborah Coolidge and husband Wayne of South Killingly, Michelle R. Brady and husband John of Sterling, Marianne Bagley and husband Wayne of Oxford, CT, Paul J. Bessenaire Jr. and wife Robin of Lake Wales, FL, Peter J. Bessenaire and wife Debra of Dayville and Patrick J. Bessenaire and wife Heather of Danielson; brothers, Robert Perreault and wife Pauline of Sterling, Raymond Perreault and wife Monique of South Killingly; nineteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Jeanne Bessenaire of South Killingly. She was predeceased by her sister Marguerite Perreault and brothers, Gerard Perreault and Ronald Perreault. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at St. James Church, Danielson. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson.
