Both Michelle (Bessenaire) and I come from large families. It is our hope that this will be a place to share family news and pictures. If you have something you would like to share, please send it to us.

Christmas greetings
The word means God is with us.
What greater message, what greater gift, at Christmas.
God chose a poor shepherd, David, to lead us.
Jesus was born not in wealth, but in poverty. His first visitors were poor shepherds. He spent his time on earth not with the privileged, but with the lowly, the poor, the shepherds, fishermen, tax collectors and prostitutes. Why? Because he is Emanuel, God with us. That is our gift from Him. He reminded us of this just before he returned to the Father. He said "I will be you always ".
We Christians celebrate the birth of baby Jesus but the Christmas gift is for all of us, regardless if we believe Him the Messiah or not. Emanuel, God is with us, Christian, Hebrew, Muslim, or whatever, all people. Regardless by what name we know our Higher Power, He is Emanuel!
May the blessing of Emanuel be with you and yours.
Merry Christmas from our house to yours.

Dear Friends,
We are pleased and honored to share with you the wonderful news that Sr. Mary Kristin Battles, our current provincial superior, has been elected Superior General of the Sisters of Notre Dame of Coesfeld. She succeeds Sister Mary Sujita Kallupurakkathu, SND, who has been Superior General since 1999. This election took place yesterday during our ongoing General Chapter in Rome.
You will find pictures of Sr. Kristin with the California delegation and other superior generals below. If you would like to see more pictures or read about Sr. Mary Kristin's election, visit the Chapter website. You may also share your greetings and congratulations publicly through this link.
We wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and hope you will join us in prayer and in person as we continue to proclaim God's goodness and provident care.
Best regards,
Sr. Mary LaReina Kelly
Assistant Provincial

Last night we went out for an anniversary celebration at MGM Foxwoods. First a wonderful 5 course meal at Altra Strada, where nephew Joshua Bessenaire is a chef. Josh set us up with a great table overlooking the open kitchen and with complimentary champagne and appetizers. The food and service was top notch, reminding us of Polo, the gourmet restaurant on Disney cruise line. Then we sang the night away at the Beach Boys show. Not the kind of evening we can have often, but that's what makes it special.

The other day was hot and humid, as so many days have been lately. Michelle had gone to bed early and I was sitting in our screen house drinking some tea before bed and just relaxing. I looked out and to the south I could see the moon, almost full, through the clouds. Further to the north I notice a star. I walked out into the deck and looked back over the roof of the house so that I could see the entire northern sky. It was clear and the stars were bright. I watched the clouds and saw that they were slowly drifting south; the sky and the weather was clearing. I had to step back into the house to get the tea kettle as it was starting to whistle. While I was inside I heard the wind chime on the porch give a slight stir. I stepped back out to the screen porch. I heard a rumble coming through the treetops, getting louder and closer. Then, a breeze, and the sky cleared. I realized that weather front the weatherman had promised had just come through and that I had witnessed it. How often do things like this take place but I do not notice because I am too busy? Why do I allow myself to be "too busy. "?
